Review: Crystal Castles - "Wrath of God"

Crystal Castles III cover

The latest track to be unveiled from Crystal Castles mysterious third album, lll, seems to be less of a song and more of a good idea repeated/extended for a second time. The electronic punk banger "Wrath of God" features all the token CC moves: barely audible vocals, gracefully obnoxious synths and their self-proclaimed "bleak" feel. There are actually a few out of character seconds in the mix where things feel pretty sunny. Either way, it's a far cry from the duo's attempt to have their forthcoming album be "completely different" and a "new experience". Luckily for Alice and Ethan, their slightly repetitive sound hasn't lost it's charm just yet.
