Album Review: The Ugly Club, 'You Belong To The Minutes'

The Ugly Club You Belong To The Minutes

It's no secret that New Jersey five-piece indie rock group The Ugly Club have a devout fanbase. The band started a Kickstarter to help raise funds for recording their new album You Belong To The Minutes. The response was overwhelming as fans pledged $6,500 (more than double the actual goal of $3,000). So was it worth it?

You Belong To The Minutes features eleven tracks of unadulterated ear candy. The opening track "David Foster Wallace" burns with vibacious guitars and splendid piano. "Loosen Up" is a groovy number that will get you moving in no time flat. The slow jam "Unraveling You" hits you like a truck (albeit a very slow truck). Vocalist Ryan Egan has the kind of voice that will leave a tingling feeling all over your body.

Fair warning: Buy an extra copy (or two) of the effort because you will wear out the first CD with massive amount of overplaying (if you buy it digitally then you're okay). The album comes out on July (Friday the) 13th. -Terrance Pryor

RIYL: indie rock, garage rock, funk
