Fang Island detail new album, 'Major'

Fang Island Major

Brooklyn indie rock outfit Fang Island have announced that on July 24th they will release their sophomore studio album on Sargent House. The follow-up to the band's eponymous debut is set to be titled Major and will be made up of 11-tracks.

Like their first LP, the songs are all extremely enthusiastic, however, frontman Jason Bartll explains that writing positive material is "similar to writing songs about being sad... It can come across as simplistic, or easy. Positive songs often run the risk of sounding shallow, but we feel there are a lot of shades and depths to positivity that can be explored."

Now, for the information you've been waiting for. In a press release regarding the record, the group decided to list all the reasons why they called the album Major. A few of our favorites are: "Major key (the first song is minor though!)", "Valley girl colloquialism", "Because the rank under Sargent (House) is major" and "Steely Dan's "Any Major Dude" was in rotation a lot during the sessions". Nice thinking, guys. Cover art can be viewed above. Find the tracklisting and teaser videos below.
