Rusko live

Last Friday, Christopher Mercer aka Rusko made his way to the Garden State as part of his 2012 U.S. Spring tour. The venue of choice? Montclair's own Wellmont Theatre. For those of you keeping track, this is the first EDM show at the venue since the Barstool Blackout incident back in March. As expected, the turnout for this event wasn't that huge because of the incident, but those that came had the time of their lives.

After a stellar set from one half of Sigma, people were eagerly waiting for Rusko to take the stage. Saying that Rusko's performance at the Wellmont Theatre was exhilarating is a complete understatement. Huge Broadway letters spelling "RUSKO" surrounded the stage from the time that doors opened earlier that night. When 10:15pm came, Rusko appeared and brought Montclair to its knees with lit up Broadway letters and pulsating electro beats. Being front row for the whole night, I was sucked into the immense flashing lights that surrounded the venue.

The DJ dished out an epic hour and 45 minute set, which made people wish they brought extra dancing shoes. Speaking of dancing shoes, Rusko probably had several pairs backstage for all of the moving and grooving he did on his huge platform. For the encore, Rusko pulled out his most popular track "Cockney Thug". A few seconds after the intro, his DJ kit stopped working, which somehow prompted the crowd to chant "USA". After the problem was fixed, Rusko went right back into "Cockney Thug" and ended the evening with the LMFAO parody "I'm Elmo And I Know It". You can check out video from the night below. Rusko is set to release his collaboration with Cypress Hill entitled Cypress X Rusko soon.
