The Shins add tour dates

The Shins Port of Morrow

Indie pop veterans The Shins have added a handful of dates to their ongoing world tour. Rather than add a whole new leg, James Mercer and friends have simply filled in their existing schedule with six new North American dates. The Portland band is currently taking a break after playing South by Southwest and then several shows in Europe last month. Things start back up on April 13 in Las Vegas and end on June 9 in Louisville.

The newly announced shows are in Columbia, Upper Darby, Boston, Minneapolis, Kansas City, and Toronto. Between the new shows in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts and the previously announced shows in New York City, The Shins will now have a pretty sizable stay in the Northeast between April 28 and May 4. All dates are in support of Port of Morrow, the band’s fourth full-length, out now on Mercer’s own Aural Apothecary.

In other Shins news, the band will premiere a new music video tomorrow, April 6, in a rather unorthodox way. Before hitting YouTube or MTV, the video for Port of Morrow track “The Rifle’s Spiral” will be available on a Nintendo 3DS near you. So find yourself a gamer or child if you just can’t wait to see it. Watch a preview and check out the band’s full tour schedule below with the new dates in bold.
