Brooklyn art rockers Liars are gradually unveiling the details of their next album. Last week they revealed that the new full-length would be due out on June 5 via Mute Records. Now Liars have confirmed that their sixth album is entitled WIXIW. Liars frontman Angus Andrew explained the bizarre title to Pitchfork thusly:
With our music, we try to convey everyday ideas, but they get all mixed up and hard to read after they've gone through our musical process. It's a palindrome, and that interested us as far as the idea of starting somewhere, going through a lot of work, and ending up in the same place you started.
Liars also released the album art (above) and their first WIXIW track today, entitled “No. 1 Against The Rush”. A stream of the track is available by liking their Facebook page, although they seem to be having some technical difficulties at the moment.
