LCD Soundsystem documentary 'Shut Up And Play The Hits' coming to theaters nationwide this summer

LCD Soundsystem

I doubt many fans thought LCD Soundsystem's forthcoming documentary, Shut Up And Play The Hits, would see a nationwide theater release, however, that will be the case come this summer. Well, sort of. The film's North American rights were recently acquired by Adam Yauch's (Beastie Boys) production company Oscilloscope and they have announced that it will hit theaters in special one-night-only engagements. Exact release date(s) to be announced.

If you haven't been keeping up, Shut Up And Play The Hits chronicles the last days of LCD Soundsystem and their farewell show at NYC's Madision Square Garden, which happened exactly a year ago today. The doc premiered at last year's Sundance Festival and was given an encore presentation at this year's South By Southwest. It is a Pulse Films production and was directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace. Check out the documentary's official trailer below.
