Listen: The Drums - "Do I Love You?" (The Ronettes cover)

The Drums band

Brooklyn crew The Drums want to wish everyone a happy Valentine’s Day. As their way of doing so The Drums have put out a special Valentine’s Day cover of The Ronettes’ 1964 hit “Do I Love You?”. The Drums summon the energy of the girl group with a certain indie-pop sensibility. This track would be right at home over an actor running through the rain in the trailer for a quirky romantic comedy. Along with the song, frontman Jonathan Pierce wrote

“Hey it's Jonny. We wanted to buy you something but we made you something instead. It's Valentines Day so don't be shy with your love. See you soon”.

The Drums are clearly still enjoying the success of their sophomore album, Portamento, which came out in September via Moshi Moshi/Island Records. Have a listen to The Drums’ cover of “Do I Love You?” and The Ronettes’ original below.
