Review: Lilys - "Well Traveled Is Protest"

Lilys Well Traveled Is Protest

After a lengthy hiatus, Lilys mark their return with a new single by the name of "Well Traveled Is Protest". The organic pop number finds mastermind Kurt Heasley delivering perfectly-layered vocal harmonies over a sprawling acoustic guitar backbone. Heasley's lyrics lay heavily on the side of introspection ("I'm suspicious of what I want"/"I change for change/I don't know why") and surprisingly find a way to leave us without either an overcast or upbeat vibe. Instead, we get a simple yet thought-provoking stream of consciousness that will most likely prove to be a standout in the band's long-running career.
