Review: Popstrangers - "Heaven"

The cover of Popstrangers' February-slated debut album Antipodes isn't the only thing present in the New Zealand trio's output channeling 90s nostalgia. The disinterested delivery, slightly high-pitched vocals and psychedelic-leaning chorus found on their current single "Heaven" does a good job at confirming the group's love for the glory days of alternative rock.
Anytime a band hones a past musical movement, things can get complicated, but as repeatedly expressed, if you got the songwriting chops to keep things intriguing, knock yourself out. Fortunately with "Heaven", Joel Flyger & Co. cultivated an honest, ragged, Posies-esque rock gem strong enough to pique interest in their forthcoming full-length.
