CMJ 2012 acts to check out

CMJ 2012 logo

The 2012 edition of CMJ kicked off today. With hundreds of shows going down, it's hard to know who exactly to see. Don't worry because we have you covered. Take a look at our list of acts that will certainly deliver. Check out the full CMJ lineup and schedule here.

Gabriel Bruce

London crooner Gabriel Bruce recently released a just about flawless single, which goes by the name "Perfect Weather". Make note of the amount of views the accompanying video has at the moment, something tells us the clip will be racking them up at an even faster rate then it is now in the near future.

Brick + Mortar

Asbury Park electric act Brick + Mortar have been gaining a ton of attention thanks to their music video for "Bangs". They're set to go on tour with Quiet Company later this month.

Com Truise

Princeton DJ Com Truise (aka Seth Haley) is one of chillwave's brightest stars. Go listen to "Brokendate" and become entranced by its 80s sci-fi movie aura.

Flatbush Zombies

FZ have been all over music blogs with their D.R.U.G.S. mixtape and music video for "Bath Salts", their collaboration with A$AP Mob. The Brooklyn hip-hop group manage to put on one hell of a show, so don't miss out.

Teen Suicide

Now that emo has been dead for a handful of years, due to over-commercialism, a few acts can attempt to restore a little honor to the sometimes charming genre. This Maryland foursome is one of those acts. Hear their Hot New Track-certified single "Give Me Back to the Sky".

Ghostface Killah

Simply one of hip hop's greatest MCs, the Wu-Tang Clan member is set to drop his collaboration album with Sheek Louch entitled Wu-Block next month.

Local H

Since their inception in 1987, Local H have been the kind of band that many would consider criminally overlooked. They achieved some success with 1996's As Good As Dead and a cover of Britney Spears' "Toxic" back in 2005. Last month, the group released their new politically-charged album Hallelujah I'm A Bum.

Those Mockingbirds

TMB manage to blend grunge with violins and keyboards to create a tasty sound. The band is currently working on brand new material.

12th Planet

12th Planet (aka John Dadzie) has brought some of the finest dubstep tracks to your ears since 2006. Performances at Coachella and SXSW helped make him one of the rising stars in the EDM world.
