Lupe Fiasco & Pharrell announce joint album

Lupe Fiasco and Pharrell

According to a message on Lupe Fiasco's official website today, the Chi-town rapper will collaborate Watch The Throne-style with Pharrell Williams in the near future. The message reads: "FOOD AND LIQUOR 2 COMING SOON....LUPE AND PHARRELL ALBUM COMING SOON...". No other information on the collaboration was given. As far as Food & Liquour 2 goes, in a recent interview with AOL Boombox Lupe expressed his frustrations with his record label (Atlantic) for the way they were handling the long awaited sequel to his 2006 debut. He explained, "The 'Lupe [Fiasco's Food & Liquor II]' album is [coming out] hopefully. It's not on me. It's not done yet. I'm waiting on my record company, ain't nothing changed. Same business, it's on them."

So while those two projects remain very much up in the air, Lupe fans can still whet their whistles with his new electro project, the Soundclash. Recorded with DJ Sky Gellatly, their EP, Don't Drop the Flag, is due out soon. Below you can stream its first single, "Letting Go," which is a remix of a track off Lupe's last album Lasers.
