Listen to Dr. Dog perform on World Cafe Live and Soundcheck

Dr Dog

Today’s World Cafe Live from WXPN and NPR featured a thirty-five minute set from Dr. Dog in their hometown of Philadelphia. The band has a new album, Be The Void, coming out on February 7 via ANTI- and they did not hold back from playing new stuff. As they say at the top of the set, “we’re gonna do all new stuff and we’re gonna do it the best we can, which is nailing it”.

Dr. Dog kicked things off with the album’s single, “That Old Black Hole”, and followed it with “These Days”, “How Long Must I Wait”, “Warrior Man”, “Lonesome”, “Over Here, Over There”, “Vampire”, and “Do The Trick”. With the exceptions of “That Old Black Hole”, “Warrior Man”, and “Lonesome”, none of the tracks had previously been released as anything more than a half-minute deconstructed preview. If the album versions capture the spirit of this performance it’ll be quite an album. Listen to the whole World Cafe Live performance here and their performance on NPR's Soundcheck from earlier this week below.
