Lookout! Records goes under

Lookout Records

Berkeley’s independent punk and alt-rock label Lookout! Records has officially gone out of business. The label, founded by Larry Livermore and David Haynes in 1987 has been home to such artists as Green Day, Rancid, Alkaline Trio, the Donnas, Operation Ivy, the Groovie Ghoulies, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Rancid, Screeching Weasel, and Ted Leo and the Pharmacists.

This news comes from Ted Leo himself, who writes that “our beloved Lookout Records, which ceased releasing new material in 2006, but carried on keeping the catalog in print until this past December, has, sadly, shuttered it’s windows for good”. His own stuff with Lookout! is currently unavailable, but will be up again soon his “complete ownership”. Some artists, including Green Day, took full ownership of their work from Lookout! a few years ago, but there is no news yet as to what will happen to the rest of the Lookout! catalog.
