Valient Thorr live

This past Thursday, March 3rd, Motörhead visited the Starland Ballroom as part of their 'The World is Yours' tour. The sold out show had fans wrapped around the side of the venue, tracing all the way to the back as they waited for the doors to open. Supporting bands for the night included Clutch and Valient Thorr.

Valient Thorr was the first band up. The five-man band from North Carolina had no trouble getting the crowd stoked for the two bands that followed them. Throughout their 7 song set, lead singer Valient Himself joined the crowd on several occasions, and even started a mosh pit in the center.

Clutch was up next. Despite the slower tempo the band brought to the stage, they still had the crowd pumping their fists and bobbing their heads. Towards the end of their 11 song set they even had a few crowd-surfers fly in. The fans seemed to really enjoy the set, judging by the enthusiasm in them as they screamed along to every song.

Motörhead, the nights headliner, took the stage at 10pm. The three-man english rock 'n' roll band played an hour and a half setlist consisting of 17 songs. Fans were throwing up garments of clothing in excitement throughout the entire set. Towards the end, Motörhead's drummer, Mikkey Dee, put on a killer drum solo which lead directly into the song "Just 'Cos You Got the Power". Just when the security guards thought their job was done, a huge wave of crowd-surfers rushed in as Motörhead played one of their more well known songs, "Ace of Spades". After that song Motörhead left the stage, but returned to the shouting of their fans to play one last song, "Overkill".

Motörhead is scheduled to continue their tour in the United States until March 11th, where they will then head off to Australia then South America to pick back up.
