Ted Leo

Billboard recently published a piece written by tweet-maestro and indie-rock musician Ted Leo on how to effectively use the the social networking device that is Twitter. Ted gives some simple tips like "Regularly Reply To Fans", "Retweet To Boost Impressions", "Just Don't Tweet About Your Next Show/Album", "Have a Goal But Stay Loose" and "Be Authentic". You can check out Mr. Leo's full explanation on of his tips below. Be sure to check out the full article over at Billboard.

Digging Leo as a music journalist? Well, luckily his Billboard article isn't the only thing he's been doing on the journalism front. While down in Austin, TX for 2011's SXSW the NJ musician was able to interview Michael Stipe (R.E.M.), Fitz and the Tantrums, Emmylou Harris, Portugal. The Man, Liz Phair and more. You can check out a few of those video interviews below. All of the interviews along with some in-studio performances can be seen over at IFC.

HAVE A GOAL BUT STAY LOOSE. "I have no goals with Twitter. I don't solicit followers or purge them. It is what it is and I'm going to use it the way I'm going to use it. Being someone who comes from the basement punk underground of the '80s, I've tried to maintain something of that conversational tone that was the de facto mode of existence for me when I got into music. I try not to have that fourth wall, even onstage." [Ted Leo]
