Listen to Leona Lewis Cover "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails

When Johnny Cash covered "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor famously said, "That song doesn't belong to me anymore." Cash's cover masterfully put the song in a new context and created something deeply moving and powerful. Not surprisingly, UK pop star Leona Lewis' cover of the track is a little less poignant. It comes off her upcoming Hurt EP which also included covers of The Goo Goo Dolls and Counting Crows. Lewis' take on "Hurt" adds a corny pop backing track that makes it hard to take seriously. Call me old fashioned, but I think sometimes you just shouldn't mess with something that's already perfect. Have a listen below.

Now, wash your ears out with Cash's version.
