Indie superstars MGMT have released an incredible video for their cover of Bauhaus’ “All We Ever Wanted Was Everything”. The track was released a few weeks ago on MGMT’s Late Night Tales compilation and was the only song on the album that they actually recorded. MGMT do a fantastic job with the already beautiful song, which was first released on Bauhaus’ 1982 album, The Sky’s Gone Out.
As usual, MGMT has a visually astounding video to go alongside the track. This time it’s a pop-up style animated one by Ned Wenlock. The clip unfolds the song’s lyrics over a series of images of two musicians walking around and playing instruments in a snowy, polluted metropolis. Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser’s Late Night Tales compilation is available now, and the duo are also working on a new self-titled MGMT album, out next year from Columbia Records. Check out the video below, and Bauhaus’ original below that.
