Band Spotlight: Madison

Madison emo band

Reunited group Madison was a band poised to break out in the NJ scene. After they released their well recieved For The First Time In Years I'm Leaving You EP in 2004, the band got signed to Rushmore Records. Unfortunately, the band called it quits in 2006 after many disputes with their label. Four years later, the band has reunited to play one more show at the School of Rock. I had the chance to speak with Madison's vocalist Stephen Pic about the upcoming show.

1) What have the band members been up to since the split in 2006?

Brandon and Jimmy both went back to school, Jonathan now plays bass for the band Meg and Dia, I believe Dennis and Rich are both working. As for myself I've been working and going to school. Theres a possibility of some new music soon but we'll see.

2) What was the reason behind the reunion show?

Well things ended on good terms between the members of Madison. We had no hard feelings amongst one another, we knew what happened was for the most part out of our control. We all still enjoy music and figured we would give it a shot and see if people were still interested. Surprisingly the response has been way more then anyone expected.

3) What are the band's feelings towards the Reines(Drive-Thru/Rushmore owners) now as opposed to 2006?

Im pretty sure everyone has the same feelings towards those people, I know I personally do. I guess what comes around goes around though.

4) What do you feel about the current NJ music scene?

I really haven't kept up with the NJ music scene at all. I know bands like Saves The Day and Senses Fail are still out doing their thing, but other then that Im not really sure.

5) Will there be any special merch sold at the show?

I believe someone said something about a t shirt or two.

6) Will the unreleased album ever see the light of day?

The album actually was never officially recorded. We had about 20 demos all recorded and they refused to even listen to them. Then we asked if we could record on our own with a producer and they would just have to put out the record... I believe it was then they threatened to shelf us. I believe then we asked to be dropped so we could switch labels and they basically wouldn't let us.

7) What are you most looking forward to about the reunion show?

Just being up there and doing something that hopefully people enjoy.

Madison's reunion show will be held at the School of Rock on July 31st.
